Camera Vocabulary · Beyond Pan, Zoom & Orbit

10 Camera Moves
That Stop The Scroll.

These aren't tripod verbs — they're engineered WOW moments. Each one includes the exact language to drop into a multi-shot Seedance prompt. Use one per video. Two is showing off. Three is a music video.

01The Corkscrew Drop
Reveals · Openers · Vertical Spaces

The camera descends while rotating around the subject in a tightening helix — a crane-down and an orbit fused into one gravity-loaded spiral. The world wheels past while your subject stays pinned dead center.

The camera begins directly above her at rooftop height, then descends in a slow clockwise spiral around her body, completing one and a half rotations, tightening inward until it settles at eye level facing her. She remains centered in frame the entire descent.
02The Keyhole Pass
Transitions · Scale Shifts · Mystery

The camera physically passes through an impossible opening — a keyhole, a bullet hole, a ring on a table — and emerges into a different scale or space on the other side. Instant "how did they do that" energy.

The camera pushes toward the brass keyhole until the dark opening fills the frame, passes through the keyhole into blackness for a beat, then emerges on the other side of the door into the candlelit hall, continuing the same forward motion at the same speed.
03The Gravity Roll
Disorientation · Dreams · Turning Points

The camera rolls a full 180° on its own axis mid-move, so the floor becomes the ceiling — while the subject stays locked in frame. The audience's inner ear files a complaint. That's the point.

As she steps through the doorway, the camera tracks with her and slowly rolls 180 degrees on its axis, so by the time she reaches the window the room appears upside down, her figure still centered and upright relative to the frame edges.
04The Shadow Ride
Noir · Chases · Stylized Tension

Instead of tracking the subject, the camera glides along their cast shadow at ground level — then tilts up from the shadow to the person at the decisive moment. The reveal is earned, not given.

The camera glides low along the pavement, tracking his long shadow as it stretches and slides across brick and gutter grates. When the shadow reaches the wall, the camera tilts up from the shadow's head to his face lit by the streetlamp above.
05The Time-Collapse Push
Montage Killers · Emotional Weight

A slow push-in on a stationary subject while the entire background time-lapses — clouds race, shadows sweep, crowds blur past. Hours pass in three seconds, but your subject never moves. Devastating in the right story.

The camera pushes in slowly on him seated motionless on the bench. Behind him, the day time-lapses: shadows sweep across the plaza, pedestrians streak past as motion blur, and the sky shifts from noon blue to sunset orange. He does not move.
06The Debris Hitch
Action · Impacts · Slow-Mo Moments

After an impact, the camera abandons the subject and rides a single piece of debris — a shattered glass shard, a spinning playing card, a spark — through slowed time before snapping back to real speed.

On impact, time slows. The camera leaves the fighters and follows a single spinning glass shard as it tumbles through the air, the blurred fight continuing behind it. When the shard hits the floor and shatters, time snaps back to full speed.
07The Mirror Handoff
Transitions · Duality · Psychological Beats

The camera pushes into a mirror's reflection until the reflection becomes the real scene — then continues moving inside the mirrored world. One continuous move, two realities, zero cuts.

The camera pushes past her shoulder into the bathroom mirror until her reflection fills the frame completely. Without cutting, the camera continues forward inside the reflected room, which is now the real scene, and she turns to face the lens directly.
08The Whip-Tether
Two-Subject Scenes · Cause & Effect

A violent whip-pan that doesn't just change direction — it's "tethered" to an object traveling between two subjects: a thrown ball, a shouted word, a gunshot. The camera whips exactly as fast as the thing it follows.

The moment she releases the throw, the camera whip-pans right at the speed of the flying keys, motion-blurring the alley, and arrives at his hand precisely as he catches them, settling instantly into a sharp medium shot on his reaction.
09The Ceiling Peel
Establishing Shots · God-to-Human Shifts

Opens as a perfect top-down "map view," then peels down one wall of the space in a single move — overhead geometry melting into human eye-level intimacy. The room introduces itself, then hands you to the character.

The shot opens directly overhead, a perfect top-down view of the diner's checkerboard floor and booth layout. The camera then sweeps down along the window wall in one continuous move, leveling out at eye height across the table from the waitress.
10The Locked-Face Fall
Shock Beats · Falls · Emotional Free-Fall

The subject falls — off a ledge, backward onto a bed, into water — and the camera falls with them, locked rigidly on their face so the world rushes past behind them. Their expression is the whole story.

As he tips backward off the dock, the camera falls with him, rigidly locked on his face in close-up while sky and rushing pier planks streak upward behind his head. His calm expression never changes until the water swallows the lens.

01Grandma vs. The Robot VacuumComedy · Showdown▼
An elderly grandmother in a floral apron faces off against a rogue robot vacuum in her sunlit living room, shot like a western standoff that collapses into slapstick warmth. 0-4 seconds: Wide symmetrical shot, a grandmother (silver bun, round glasses, floral apron, wooden spoon in right hand) stands at one end of a cozy living room; a round black robot vacuum sits motionless at the other end. Dust particles float in warm window light. Slow push in toward the center of the room. Sound: a single western-style guitar twang, ticking wall clock. 4-8 seconds: Cut to alternating close-ups — her narrowed eyes behind glasses, then the vacuum's front sensor glinting. The vacuum suddenly lunges forward; she sidesteps and it devours the tassels of her rug. Grandma (gasping): "Not the good rug!" Sound: motor whir rising in pitch, tassels rattling inside the vacuum. 8-12 seconds: Low tracking shot at floor level following the vacuum as it flees under the dining table; she pursues, sweeping the wooden spoon beneath chairs, knocking one chair leg so it wobbles but does not fall. Grandma: "Come here, you little gremlin!" 12-15 seconds: Medium shot, the vacuum bumps her slippers, stops, and plays a soft apologetic chime; she sighs, bends down, and pats its lid twice like a pet. Final frame holds on the vacuum resting beside her slippers, rug tassels trailing from its bumper. Grandma (softly): "Fine. You're still family." Maintain consistency: the grandmother keeps the same face, silver bun, glasses, apron, and wooden spoon throughout; only one vacuum exists; living room layout, window light direction, and rug position remain fixed; no subtitles, no on-screen text.
02The Pigeon Job InterviewComedy · Office▼
A corporate hiring manager conducts a deadpan job interview with a pigeon in a glass-walled office, shot in a dry mockumentary style. 0-4 seconds: Medium two-shot across a desk, a hiring manager (short brown hair, navy blazer, lanyard) sits opposite a single grey pigeon perched on the back of an office chair, a tiny printed resume on the desk in front of it. Static locked-off camera, fluorescent office lighting, city skyline through glass wall behind them. Manager (reading the resume, flat tone): "It says here you have five years of experience... in the park." 4-8 seconds: Slow push in on the pigeon as it tilts its head sharply left, then right, then pecks the resume once, leaving a visible dent in the paper. Sound: paper peck, distant office phones, air conditioning hum. 8-11 seconds: Cut to a close-up of the manager glancing directly into the camera lens, documentary-style, eyebrows raised for two full seconds, saying nothing. The pigeon's wing flap is audible off-screen. 11-15 seconds: Wide shot, the pigeon flies one lap around the office and lands on the manager's head; the manager remains perfectly still, then slowly extends a hand across the desk toward the bird. Final frame holds on the handshake gesture, pigeon perched on his head, resume dented on the desk. Manager: "Welcome aboard." Maintain consistency: one manager, one pigeon only; same blazer, lanyard, desk layout, and glass wall throughout; the resume stays on the desk in every shot; the pecked dent remains visible after 8 seconds; no subtitles, no on-screen text.
03Knight at the LaundromatComedy · Fantasy▼
A full-armored medieval knight does his laundry at a fluorescent 24-hour laundromat at 2 AM, shot with the quiet melancholy of an indie film that keeps breaking into absurdity. 0-4 seconds: Wide static shot, a knight in dented steel plate armor sits alone on a plastic chair in a fluorescent laundromat, helmet resting on the seat beside him, watching a front-load washer spin his chainmail. Green-white fluorescent light, one flickering tube overhead, rows of empty machines. Sound: washer sloshing, chainmail clinking rhythmically inside the drum, fluorescent buzz. 4-8 seconds: Slow lateral dolly right as an elderly woman with a laundry basket enters frame, stops beside him, and looks at the washer, then at him. He gives her a small polite nod. She nods back and begins loading the machine next to his. Sound: basket set down, machine door opening. 8-12 seconds: Close-up on the washer window from the knight's eye level, chainmail tumbling in suds; a single steel gauntlet thuds against the glass. Cut to his bare hand — he flexes his fingers slowly, realizing. Knight (quiet, resigned): "Every. Single. Time." 12-15 seconds: Medium shot, the elderly woman wordlessly hands him a mesh delicates bag from her basket; he accepts it with both hands like a sacred gift and bows his head slightly. Final frame holds on the two of them seated side by side, washers spinning in sync behind them. Woman: "Cold wash. Trust me." Maintain consistency: the knight's armor, dents, and missing right gauntlet stay identical across shots; one knight, one woman only; laundromat layout, flickering tube, and machine positions remain fixed; the gauntlet stays inside the washer after 8 seconds; no subtitles.
04Raccoon Heist: The Food Truck JobComedy · Heist▼
Three raccoons execute a coordinated night heist on a taco truck, shot like a serious crime thriller with tense score and tactical camera work. 0-4 seconds: Overhead night shot slowly descending toward a closed taco truck in an empty parking lot, one sodium streetlight casting orange light. Three raccoons emerge from a storm drain in single file and freeze in formation at the truck's rear bumper. Sound: low tense synth pulse, distant traffic, tiny claws on asphalt. 4-8 seconds: Handheld close follow shot behind the lead raccoon (notched left ear) as it climbs the rear tire, walks the bumper, and lifts the serving window latch with both paws. The second raccoon keeps watch on the ground, standing upright, head sweeping left and right. Sound: metal latch click, synth pulse quickening. 8-12 seconds: Interior shot from inside the dark truck, the serving window swings open revealing the lead raccoon silhouetted against orange streetlight; it drops inside and passes a single foil-wrapped burrito out the window to the third raccoon waiting below, who catches it with both front paws. Sound: foil crinkle amplified like a safe-cracking moment. 12-15 seconds: Wide low-angle shot, all three raccoons sprint back toward the storm drain in single file, the burrito carried above the third raccoon's head; the lead raccoon pauses at the drain entrance and looks back at the truck for one beat before vanishing. Final frame holds on the open serving window swaying gently. Sound: score resolves into one soft triumphant note, drain echo. Maintain consistency: exactly three raccoons throughout, the lead identifiable by its notched left ear; one burrito only, always carried by the third raccoon after 11 seconds; truck position, streetlight direction, and storm drain stay fixed; no dialogue, no subtitles, no on-screen text.
05The Ghost Who Pays Half the RentComedy · Supernatural▼
A young man argues with his translucent Victorian ghost roommate about the thermostat, shot like a warm sitcom with supernatural lighting. 0-4 seconds: Medium shot in a cozy apartment hallway, a young man (curly dark hair, grey hoodie, thick socks) stands at a wall thermostat, adjusting it. Beside him hovers a translucent Victorian gentleman ghost (frock coat, cravat, faint blue-white glow, feet fading to mist). Warm lamp light everywhere except the cold blue glow around the ghost. Man: "Sixty-eight. We agreed on sixty-eight." Ghost (indignant, formal accent): "I perished in a draft, Marcus. I shall not relive it." 4-8 seconds: Slow push in as the ghost drifts through Marcus's body to reach the thermostat, causing Marcus to shiver visibly and hug his arms; the ghost's transparent finger taps the display and the temperature reading drops from 68 to 62. Sound: a low airy whoosh as the ghost passes through, thermostat beep. 8-12 seconds: Reverse over-the-shoulder shot from behind the ghost, Marcus pulling a knitted blanket off the couch and wrapping it around his shoulders while maintaining unbroken eye contact with the ghost. Marcus: "You don't even feel temperature!" Ghost: "It is the principle." 12-15 seconds: Wide shot of the living room, both now seated on opposite ends of the couch watching television, Marcus cocooned in the blanket, the ghost hovering one inch above the cushion. The thermostat on the back wall reads 65. Final frame holds on the two of them lit by TV glow. Ghost (quietly): "Sixty-five is a fair compromise." Marcus (muttering): "Best roommate I've ever had." Maintain consistency: the ghost stays translucent with the same frock coat and blue-white glow in every shot; Marcus keeps the same hoodie and blanket after 9 seconds; thermostat is the only light-blue prop besides the ghost; apartment layout and lamp positions fixed; no subtitles.
06Sasquatch Ruins a Hiking VlogComedy · Found Footage▼
A hiking influencer films a selfie vlog while an anxious sasquatch repeatedly fails to stay hidden in the background, shot entirely as vertical-feeling handheld selfie footage reframed in 16:9. 0-4 seconds: Handheld selfie-style shot, a cheerful hiker (red beanie, orange windbreaker, trekking pole) walks a pine forest trail talking into her phone camera; sixty feet behind her, a tall brown sasquatch steps out from behind a tree, freezes when it notices the camera, and slowly leans back out of sight. Hiker: "Day three, absolutely nothing out here but peace and quiet!" 4-8 seconds: Same continuous selfie framing, she stops to point at a mushroom at trail's edge; in the background the sasquatch tiptoes with exaggerated care from the tree to a boulder that is clearly too small, crouching so its shoulders and head remain fully visible above it. Sound: birdsong, one loud twig snap. Hiker (looking up from mushroom): "Did you hear something?" 8-12 seconds: She slowly rotates the camera 180 degrees to scan the forest; the sasquatch, caught mid-tiptoe in open trail, freezes and holds a perfectly still 'tree pose' with arms raised like branches. She squints directly at it for two seconds. Hiker (uncertain): "...Cool dead tree." 12-15 seconds: She turns the camera back to her face and resumes walking; behind her the sasquatch exhales visibly, wipes its brow with one huge hand, and gives the camera a small guilty wave before stepping behind a wide pine. Final frame holds on her smiling face with the empty trail behind her. Hiker: "Like I said. Nothing out here." Maintain consistency: one hiker, one sasquatch only; same beanie, windbreaker, and fur coloring throughout; the sasquatch always occupies the background plane, never approaching closer than fifty feet; continuous single-take handheld selfie framing with no cuts; forest lighting stays consistent; no subtitles.
07Alien Driving Test: Parallel ParkingComedy · Sci-Fi▼
A nervous alien attempts parallel parking during a DMV driving test while a weary human examiner takes notes, shot in bright suburban daylight with escalating physical comedy. 0-4 seconds: Two-shot through the windshield of a modest silver sedan, a slender grey alien (large black eyes, seatbelt worn diagonally across its thin torso, both four-fingered hands gripping the wheel at ten-and-two) sits in the driver seat; a middle-aged human examiner (short-sleeve dress shirt, clipboard, ID badge) sits in the passenger seat. Suburban street, two parked cars with one open space between them. Examiner (monotone): "Parallel park between the two vehicles." Alien (nodding rapidly): "Yes. A simple maneuver. For my species." 4-8 seconds: Exterior wide static shot from across the street, the sedan lifts six inches off the ground with a soft anti-gravity hum, glides sideways in a perfectly straight lateral line into the parking space, and settles down flawlessly centered between the two cars, suspension bouncing once. Sound: rising hum, gentle thump, one car alarm chirping in the distance. 8-12 seconds: Interior close-up of the examiner staring at the space where the steering wheel never turned, then looking down at his clipboard, pen hovering. Slow push in on his face as he processes. Examiner (measured): "The vehicle... left the road surface." Alien: "The road is a suggestion." 12-15 seconds: Two-shot through the windshield again, the examiner sighs, checks one box on the clipboard, and the alien's huge eyes reflect the paper. The alien pumps both fists silently. Final frame holds on the examiner staring straight ahead while the alien celebrates beside him. Examiner: "Passed. I'm retiring." Maintain consistency: one alien, one examiner, one silver sedan throughout; the parking space, both parked cars, and street layout stay fixed; the sedan is perfectly parked and stationary from 8 seconds onward; clipboard remains in the examiner's hands; no subtitles.
08The Mime Is Actually TrappedComedy · Surreal▼
A street mime performing the invisible box routine discovers the box has become real, and a confused city electrician tries to help, shot in a whimsical European plaza style. 0-4 seconds: Wide shot of a cobblestone plaza in golden afternoon light, a classic mime (striped shirt, white face paint, red beret) performs the invisible box routine for a small gap in foot traffic, palms pressing flat against empty air. On his third palm press, a faint glass-like shimmer ripples where his hand touches, and a soft *thunk* is audible. Sound: plaza ambience, accordion in the distance, one clear glass thunk. 4-8 seconds: Push in to medium shot, the mime's performance smile fades; he knocks twice on the air and both knocks produce real glass sounds, fingertips flattening visibly against an invisible surface. He mouths a silent scream, palms squeaking down the unseen wall. Sound: two knocks, palm squeak, accordion stops mid-note. 8-12 seconds: A city electrician (yellow hard hat, tool belt, high-vis vest) enters frame, sets down his toolbox, and taps the invisible wall with a voltage tester, which beeps and lights up red. He and the mime lock eyes through the unseen glass. Electrician (deadpan): "Yeah. It's real. Seen two of these this week." 12-15 seconds: Wide shot, the electrician traces a rectangle in the air with chalk, drawing a visible chalk door outline on nothing; he pushes it and the chalk door swings open with a creak. The mime steps out, straightens his beret, and silently shakes the electrician's hand with enormous gravity. Final frame holds on the chalk door hanging open in midair as pedestrians walk past it unbothered. Sound: door creak, accordion resumes. Maintain consistency: one mime, one electrician; the mime never speaks aloud and stays in full costume and face paint; the shimmer only appears where surfaces are touched; chalk door outline persists once drawn; plaza layout, light direction, and background pedestrians stay natural; no subtitles.
09Eight Huskies, One RegretComedy · Action▼
A first-day dog walker is towed helplessly through a city park by eight determined huskies, shot like a high-speed chase film taking itself completely seriously. 0-4 seconds: Low wide shot at leash height, eight harnessed huskies stand in loose formation on a park path, breath visible in cool morning air; behind them a young dog walker (puffy green jacket, knit gloves, eight leashes braided into one grip) checks his phone with his free hand. One husky's ears rotate toward something off-screen left. Sound: morning birds, jingling collar tags, one distant squirrel chitter. 4-8 seconds: All eight huskies launch left simultaneously; the walker's phone flies from his hand as he is yanked off both feet into a horizontal water-ski posture, boots skidding on the paved path. Fast lateral tracking shot alongside him, jacket rippling, gravel spraying from his heels. Walker (yelling): "HEEL! HEEL MEANS STOP!" Sound: eight sets of galloping paws, skidding boots, wind. 8-12 seconds: Front-facing follow shot from ahead of the pack, eight husky faces in ecstatic formation filling the lower frame like a chariot team, the walker airborne behind them holding the braided leash two-handed, passing a park bench where two elderly men calmly raise their coffee cups out of splash range. Sound: thundering paws, one long doppler yell. 12-15 seconds: The squirrel darts up an oak tree; all eight huskies stop instantly at the trunk and sit in a perfect semicircle staring upward. The walker slides to a stop on his knees between them, gloves smoking slightly, hair blown vertical. Final frame holds on him kneeling motionless among eight seated, serene huskies gazing up at the tree. Walker (whisper): "...good boys." Maintain consistency: exactly eight huskies with fixed coat patterns throughout; one braided leash line connecting all dogs to the walker's right hand at all times; the walker's jacket, gloves, and hairstyle stay identical; leftward screen direction for the entire chase; park path, bench, and oak tree layout stay coherent; no subtitles.
10Barista vs. The Time TravelerComedy · Sci-Fi▼
A time traveler keeps rewinding the same coffee order to fix his small talk while the barista slowly realizes she remembers every loop, shot in a warm café with a subtle visual rewind effect. 0-4 seconds: Medium two-shot across a café counter, a flustered man in a slightly-scorched brown trench coat with a brass wrist device orders from a barista (box braids, green apron, gold name tag) in a warm plant-filled coffee shop. Man (too fast): "One coffee please and also you have nice— nope." He presses the brass device; the frame stutters, colors briefly invert for a quarter second, and steam over the espresso machine flows backward. 4-8 seconds: Identical framing and lighting, the same moment restarts: same customers in the background mid-stride in their earlier positions. He orders again with forced calm. Man (overly smooth): "One coffee. The universe is a lattice of— no. No." He presses the device again; frame stutter, inverted flash, backward steam. 8-12 seconds: Identical framing a third time, but now the barista is already sliding a finished coffee cup across the counter before he speaks, one eyebrow raised. Slow push in on his stunned face. Barista (calm): "Third time's the charm. You always order the same thing, Trench Coat." Man (whisper): "...You remember?" 12-15 seconds: Close two-shot, she taps her own gold name tag, which briefly glints with the same brass texture as his wrist device. His jaw drops. She slides a second cup next to the first. Final frame holds on both cups steaming side by side on the counter between them. Barista: "Break's in ten. You're buying." Maintain consistency: same café layout, plant positions, background customers, and lighting in every loop; the loops restart from identical blocking at 0 and 4 seconds; the man's coat scorch marks and brass device stay identical; the barista's name tag glint occurs only once at 13 seconds; steam flows backward only during rewinds; no subtitles.
